Why import a Photoshop (PSD) file into Flexitive?
While it is very fast to create new designs directly in Flexitive using high-resolution assets, sometimes you may already have access to a Photoshop (PSD) file of an existing design that you or someone else has already created.
Flexitive allows you to import Photoshop (PSD) files, making it easy to use existing Photoshop designs in Flexitive. Instead of rebuilding the designs, you can import a PSD file directly into Flexitive, and Flexitive will upload all the assets contained in the PSD and then use them to build your first size based on the layout in the PSD.
How to import Photoshop (PSD) files into Flexitive
- Create a new Flexitive design
- Choose Blank Canvas
- Activate a canvas size that matches or is close to your PSD canvas size
- Learn more about choosing your first size
- Open the Assets panel
- Select the Images tab
- Select the Upload Local File tab
- Click the Upload Images button and select the PSD file (max 2GB) that you want to import
- You can also import a PSD file by dragging and dropping your PSD file onto the canvas.
What happens after importing a PSD file?
After importing your PSD file into Flexitive, its layers will be uploaded as assets in the Assets Panel. These assets will then be automatically arranged on the canvas according to the Photoshop layout.
PSD layers in Flexitive
Text Elements
- Text elements are imported as editable text boxes. If the font in your PSD is available in Flexitive, that font will be applied to the text element. Otherwise, it will use the default font, which can be changed. If your PSD uses a custom font, you’ll need to upload that custom font to Flexitive. Learn how to upload a custom font.
All Other Elements
- Any other elements in the PSD, including your image elements, will be converted into PNGs and uploaded as image assets. When placed on the canvas, they will maintain their size and position as they appear in the PSD.
Hidden Layers
- Hidden layers in your PSD will not be imported. To include layers, make sure they are visible in your PSD before importing.
Current PSD import limitations
Layer Groups
- Grouped layers in your PSD will be ungrouped in Flexitive and treated as individual assets. Settings applied to a group of layers will be lost when you upload the group.
Masked Layers
- Masking of layers is not currently maintained when importing a PSD. Masked layers will appear as if they were unmasked in Photoshop.
Blend Modes
- Any layers using blend modes will be imported without the blend mode effects applied.
Scaling and enhancing your imported PSD
Now that your PSD file has been imported into Flexitive, you can begin customizing and scaling your design. Here are some recommended next steps:
